Who We Are
The Moms 4 Moms website provides instructions for creating a neighborhood home school co-op where moms help moms in the education of their children. |
Homeschool Moms 4 Moms provides an opportunity and structure for homeschooling families to come together as a community support group in the education of their children. The Hearthstone Education team provides the basic structure, resource options, and instructions. Neighborhood groups may use our resources as they see fit to meet their own needs.
A Moms 4 Moms homeschool co-op may be organized and established in three phases.
How to begin: The first step in organizing a Moms 4 Moms co-op is for a volunteer area coordinator to identify families who are interested in joining. The area coordinator will train families in the basic structure of the program and oversee the following events to provide networking opportunities:
The area coordinator may facilitate and encourage group activities to meet the needs of participating families. Local groups may choose the resources that meet their needs. Suggested resources can be found on the Hearthstone Education Plan, Homeschooling Moms2Moms, and the Moms 4 Moms website. |
A Moms 4 Moms Homeschool is divided into the following three age groups: |
Ages 4-8
Foundations Planting and nurturing the seeds of self, family, and community |
Ages 8-12

Ages 12+

A typical school days typically follows the outline below:
Beginning Devotional with Religious and Moral Stories(55 minutes): Sharing time is an opportunity to share music, story, art, symbol, and scripture to teach moral values and themes. Teachers are encouraged to develop story-telling skills, and enough musical skills to lead children and students in simple songs related to the theme. Practice and Apply: (2 hours) Practice and apply time is for students to work on notebooking projects and to develop skills in math, language arts, and science. Students may participate in group discussions and presentations during this time. Parents choose curriculum for students and help their own children set weekly goals. The hosting parent will give a short presentation about one concept in math, language arts, and science to instruct and inspire students. The remainder of the time is given to students to work independently. In groups of three or more families, parents may take on the role of math specialist, science specialist, and language arts specialist. In this case they will give a short presentation once a week. Ending Group Time with Storytime or History studies (55 minutes):

Parents and children choose academic goals and how much additional time will be spent in the home on school work |
Parents have the primary responsibility for the education of their children. The co-op is organized as a support. Teachers within the co-op do not assign homework unless parents have specifically asked them to do so. Teachers provide instruction in key concepts to inspire and give direction to students. They serve as additional mentors to children.
